Serving Individuals

At North Star Families, located in the Los Angeles area, we provide Neurodivergent Affirming Therapy designed to support individuals who identify as neurodivergent, including those with autism, ADHD, learning differences, and other cognitive or neurological variations. Our approach honors and respects neurodiversity, focusing on strengths, acceptance, and authentic self-expression.

We create a safe, understanding environment where neurodivergent clients and their families can explore challenges, build coping strategies, autism screening and develop skills for thriving in everyday life whether at home, school, work, or in relationships.

How Neurodivergent Affirming Therapy Can Help

Neurodivergent Affirming Therapy helps individuals better understand their unique wiring and navigate the world in ways that feel authentic and empowering. This approach supports self-advocacy, emotional regulation, social connection, and reducing stress from societal expectations or stigma.

This therapy can be beneficial for:

  • Navigating social challenges
  • Managing sensory sensitivities
  • Developing communication skills
  • Improving executive functioning and organization
  • Addressing anxiety, depression, or trauma linked to neurodivergent experiences
  • Supporting identity development and self-acceptance

Our goal is to affirm neurodivergence as a natural and valuable part of human diversity, helping clients build resilience and confidence on their own terms.

“Curiosity and wonder are the foundation of secure relationships, with your child, with your partner, and with your colleagues.”

What to Expect

Your therapist will begin with a comprehensive intake to understand your individual strengths, challenges, and goals. We use a collaborative, respectful approach tailored to neurodivergent ways of processing and communicating.

Therapy sessions may incorporate cognitive-behavioral strategies, mindfulness, trauma-informed care, and creative or nonverbal methods suited to your needs. We work closely with families when appropriate to support holistic growth and understanding.

At North Star Families, we prioritize flexibility and accommodation, creating an environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered.

We have locations in Beverly Hills, Pasadena, West LA, Silverlake and Studio City for you to visit with our therapists.
